Macrame Cat Toy
===============

.. figure:: cat_toy.jpg
 :align: center

A cat toy with a thick string with a handle and a self-made weight at
the bottom, for the cat to capture

Materials
---------

* 24 m 2 mm twine.

I'd strongly recommend using only natural fibers, as this will get
shredded into fine fibers.

Directions
----------

Cut two cords for the handle, 3 m for the anchor and 9 m for the working
one, and 6 cords, 2 m each for the weight.

Lie the weight cords together, fold them in half, hold them in place
with an elastic band.
Pass the handle cords through the loop of the weight cords, fold them
too in half.

Handle
^^^^^^

Wrap the ends of the working cord in butterflies to make them easier to
manage, and start working square knots over the anchor cords for about 1
m.

When you're about 50 cm from the end of the anchor cords, loop them to
form a handle, and work the square knots over both ends for 5 - 10 cm to
hold them in place.

Then keep working square over the regular anchor cords until you're out
of anchor cords, weave the ends of the working cords into the knots to
finish the handle.
