The text has been written in urxvt using the font
-misc-fixed-medium-r-*-*-15-*-*-*-*-*-iso10646-1
a screenshot taken and the background turned transparent using gimp (the
results are saved as people-screenshot.png)

The bitmap has then been imported into inkscape and traced with 
"Trace Pixel Art" using the default parameters:

Curves 1.000
Islands 5
Sparse pixels (window radius) 4
Sparse pixels (multiplier) 1.000

Output: Convert to B-spline curves
